What You Can Do with This Tool
Pick any color and set it as your new photo background. You can type a hex code like #FF5733 for a specific brand color, use the visual color picker to browse options or enter RGB values directly. The tool removes the original background first, then fills it with your chosen color.
White (#FFFFFF) is standard for product photos. Light gray (#F0F0F0) works well for portfolio sites where pure white feels too harsh. Blue (#0066CC) is common for corporate headshots and ID photos. Red, green and other bold colors are popular for social media content that needs to stand out in a feed.
Hex codes are six-character combinations that define exact colors. Every brand has specific hex values in its style guide. Using the right background color keeps your images consistent with your brand identity. If you're unsure what color to use, try a few options. The tool lets you swap colors without re-uploading your photo.
The color fills the entire background area uniformly. For gradient or image backgrounds, you'd need a different approach. This tool is specifically for solid color replacements.
Frequently Asked Questions
I need a specific shade of blue for a visa application. Most tools only give me generic preset colors. Can I enter an exact hex code?
Yes. Our color picker lets you type in an exact hex code, RGB values or just pick from the full color spectrum. If your visa application requires a specific shade like #0077B6, you can match it exactly.
I changed my passport photo background to white but there's a visible halo around my hair. Will this get rejected?
It might. Passport offices look for signs of digital editing, and a visible halo is a dead giveaway. Our edge refinement and defringe processing minimizes this, but start with a good photo taken against a plain wall for the cleanest result. The closer your original background is to the target color, the less visible any artifacts will be.
I need different background colors for different documents: white for US passport, blue for a Chinese visa, red for an Indonesian ID. Do I have to redo the whole thing each time?
No. Upload your photo once and the background gets removed. Then you can switch the background color as many times as you want and download each version. Remove once, export many.
Can I add a gradient background instead of a flat color?
Right now the tool supports solid colors. For gradients, you'd need to download the transparent PNG and place it on a gradient background in a design tool like Canva. We may add gradient options in a future update.
The background color I picked looks different on my phone vs my laptop. The hex code is the same but the colors don't match.
That's a screen calibration issue, not a file issue. Different screens display colors differently depending on brightness, color profile and panel type. The hex code in the file is correct. The screens are just rendering it differently. If color accuracy matters (like for official documents), view it on a calibrated monitor.
